March is National Nutrition Month, marking an important time to reflect on the foods we eat and how they play into our overall health and wellness. Dr. Doni Wilson (Dr. Doni) is a leading naturopathic doctor and nutritionist with an expertise on developing nutritional solutions to reduce stress and boost wellness. To celebrate National Nutrition Month, Dr. Doni is unveiling the seven steps to her popular HAMPTONS CLEANSE, a gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free approach to healing and strengthening health, with insider medical wisdom and tips for success.

Dr. Doni’s Top Tips to Creating a Stress-Free Diet:

Avoid reactive foods: gluten, dairy, eggs, and soy.

Delayed food sensitivities are a major source of inflammation throughout the body. By avoiding the foods that are most likely to trigger sensitivities, you’ll be giving your body a break from inflammation.

Eat six small “half meals, spaced 2-4 hours apart: 40% protein, 40% carbohydrates, 20% healthy fat.

Balancing your blood sugar, whether you have diabetes or not, is one of the best ways to decrease inflammation and stress in your body.

Choose organic foods and drink filtered water or tea (green tea or herbal tea).

By choosing organic foods and filtered water, you’ll be eliminating pesticides and other toxins from your daily exposure.

Avoid sugar, artificial sweeteners, alcohol, trans and hydrogenated fats.

One way we can lower stress in our bodies is by choosing stress-free foods. Sugar and sweeteners stress our bodies, as do alcohol and trans fats.

Have a protein shake, such as the Hamptons Shake, once or twice a day.

A protein shake can be a quick and efficient way to get protein along with nutrients, but without sugar or dairy, all of which drops your stress levels.

Avoid toxins: artificial ingredients, preservatives, pesticides and environmental toxins.

A cleanse is a perfect chance to bring your awareness to all the places you are exposed to toxins throughout the day and eliminate them.

Get seven and a half to nine hours of sleep each night and 15 minutes of exercise three to five times each week.

What better way to lower your stress and rejuvenate than to get plenty of sleep.
