Starcodes horoscopes for August 5 – 11, 2016

by Heather Roan Robbins

Tonight, just after sunset (if the sky is clear), look to the western horizon and see the Moon conjunct Jupiter, with Venus (and Mercury, the less visibly) close nearby, a beautiful site that calls us to expand our hearts and our horizons.

Because this lineup occurs in nervy Virgo the industrious sign harvest and healing, of transition between summer and autumn, our minds will be drawn to think about our work plans for this coming fall. We may also see the first leaves tinge with orange or let fall clothes catch our eyes, and actually look forward to new office supplies or long to sink our teeth into a class, project, or campaign in the month ahead.

[ad name=”AdSense Responsive”]

Yes, let’s sketch out preparations for fall now because Mercury turns retrograde August 30 through September 22 and it will be good to have a few plans mapped out ahead of time. But let’s not rush the summer. The Sun in Leo still calls for us to renew our wells with the bounty of summer life. It looks to be a busy, intense year ahead, we will need those reserves.

Virgo likes to fix things. These planets in Virgo also helps us sharpen our critical capacity, hone our ability to think and sort information. They trigger us to search our soul and take personal inventory. We don’t need anyone else to search our soul for us, thank you very much, don’t poke or prod us and go lightly with advice and helpful information or we can get touchy and defensive. Let’s use Virgo’s critical thinking capacity instead to sort out useful seed from chaff, truth from hype. This goes equally for our politics and our soul’s journey.

To help turn this Virgo critical thinking into a gift we need to be able to empathize, to really put ourselves in another’s shoes, a Virgo gift when we open our hearts. We also need to focus on what we want, not on what we don’t want.

Although the Moon enters friendly, fair and sociable Libra over the weekend, a conscientious Mercury-Saturn square on Saturday asks us to take things seriously. It can help us organize and plan any last-minute summer trips or engage in really interesting debate. But we can get cranky or see problems bigger than they are. Romantic Venus squares active Mars and can spark romantic interests, but throw off our timing so it may be a challenge to truly connect. One person can get a little nervy or critical under stress while the other needs to take a walk. Yet this aspect can encourages us to come at problems from very different angles, which can be really constructive if we respect each other’s position. We need to be able to be intrigued by each other’s quirks.

Mars is now in Sagittarius, the sign of travel, which will generally keep people positive, authentic, and restless. When we get stressed, it will help to move, to walk to dance or drive. A road trip can be a wonderful way to work out family issues, as long as no one feels trapped in the process. “Don’t fence me in” is that that Sagittarius theme song.

Mercury opposes Neptune on Sunday which can distract us or leave us spiritually hungry. But we can also wander in our minds and wander around the neighborhood if we get lost. Weather and water can complicate our situation; our coffee can spill on the directions. It can be too easy to project or to believe in a fear, a fantasy, or a cartoon. We make an opportunity to tell a great story though, we just have to know that’s what we’re doing.

On Monday a Scorpio Moon hones our focus and can hone political debate as it amps up our contentious streak. It will help if we have something to focus upon, something other than ourselves, each other, or politics. Although the mood is fairly durable and resilient, we need both extroverted Leo moments, and moments of Scorpionic solitude, a break from society where we just get a minute with ourselves. If our friends and family suddenly act antisocial, just give them space so they don’t feel trapped and crowded, and they can bounce back.

Thursday ends on an energized and unusually honest note; our sense of humor returns though we may need to talk about something we’ve been brooding over all week, or need a moment away from human interests, out communing with the wild.

Friday, August 5: Don’t worry so much. Our minds will tend to fret as the Virgo Moon trines Pluto and conjuncts Jupiter, just as Venus enters Virgo. Practice mindfulness; stay in the here and now, and make that the best possible, rather than borrow trouble from the future. Use a delicious ability to see what needs doing to catch up or arrive safely. Feel the urge to prepare for the fall, take the next step, but stay in this present summer moment. Create a potentially expansive, thoughtful evening as the Moon conjunct Jupiter.

Moon trine Pluto 6:53 AM, Venus enters Virgo 9:26 AM, Moon conjunct Jupiter 9:20 PM.

Saturday, August 6: Morning begins with the more serious, potentially difficult edge. Notice the urge to plan things, and map out the next few days brainstorm a bit about the fall, but don’t obsess and plan anything more than necessary. Talk over the known universe and all her philosophies as the Moon and Mercury square Saturn. These aspects can deepen our thinking and help us follow through to completion but we can borrow trouble; instead, find a more interesting problem to solve. Our sociability improves as the Moon enters Libra midday, romantic expectations can both bring a touch of the delicious but also set us up for disappointment if we’re out of sync as Venus squares Mars tonight. Enjoy difference and all can be delightful.

Moon opposed Chiron 12:21 AM, Mercury square Saturn 7:17 AM, Moon enters Libra 10:56 AM, Moon sextile Mars 200 6 PM, Venus square Mars6:19 PM.

Sunday, August 7: Early confusion can leave us wandering. We may not feel like coping, have trouble getting anywhere on time, and could use some extra sleep. Midday we long for something numinous and magical as Mercury opposes Neptune. Just stay awake at the wheel if driving. Emotions crank up around dinner time as the Moon squares Pluto, though the discouragement can pass quickly. Give room for extra emotional discharge. And feel the bounce back to optimism later in the evening.

Moon sextile Saturn 6:18 AM, Mercury opposed Neptune 10:24 AM, Moon square Pluto 5:38 PM, Moon sextile Sun 6:28 PM.

Monday, August 8: Plans can change quickly this morning as the Moon opposes Uranus, and this can make some people edgy. To help work around any contention this sparks, take the lead but let everyone have a say in how the changes are handled. Afternoon is sociable though the evening develops a sharper edge as the Moon enters inward-looking Scorpio. Let everyone go to their own corner when they need to soothe their introverted side or they will get cranky.

Moon opposed Uranus 11:41 AM, Moon enters Scorpio 10:51 PM.

Tuesday, August 9: Although people need their boundaries respected, and won’t be particularly flexible, this can be a beautiful day to share insight as the Moon sextiles Venus and trines Neptune. It will help to speak tangentially, to talk about shared interests rather than to poke and pry into one another, no matter how tempting. The magic of the natural world can speak to the mystery in our hearts, we just need to listen.

Moon sextile Venus 8:43 AM, Moon trine Neptune 9:37 PM.

Wednesday, August 10: What an interesting day to ferret out information, to study, to understand, investigate as Mercury trines Pluto, lord of the depths. Feel the strong torque of competing willpowers and try not to catch people in the crossfire. It will not be possible to make everybody happy at once, and it will be easy to focus on the differences rather than connection, but we can state our position and agree to disagree. Give people room for acceptance, don’t make them try to justify their need to go what looks like the wrong way, because they will only get more adamant in their position. Grant one another a long of space. It furthers to have small challenges we face together rather than make each other the challenge.

Moon sextile Mercury 4:47 AM, Moon sextile Pluto 6:04 AM, Moon square Sun 12:20 PM, Mercury trine Pluto 5:24 PM, Moon sextile Jupiter 11:21 PM.

Thursday, August 11: Morning can be slow off the bat, let people have their coffee or morning rituals before nudging them. Feel a relief and refocus around noon with room to roam as the Moon enters Sagittarius. Laugh together. Enjoy the camaraderie, just don’t keep anybody waiting, particularly around dinnertime as the Moon conjunct Mars. If poked, people speak the truth, but could do so ruthlessly.

Moon enters Sagittarius 11:23 AM, Moon conjuncts Mars 7:04 PM.

Starcodes horoscopes for June 24 – 30, 2016

by Heather Roan Robbins

Let’s put kindness first. We’re in a haze of deep and sensitive feelings with the Sun and Venus, and soon Mercury, all in Cancer, a sign that brings us to our hearts, to our feelings, brings our thoughts to home, homeland, and protection, and even xenophobia on a bad day. We may need unusual amounts of time along, or feel more easily bombarded by other people’s energy than usual.

[ad name=”AdSense Responsive”]

Mars, the activating planet, stirs the depths of our psyche, stirring up strange dreams, unfinished business, and nudging some monstrous crocodiles in the swamps of our collective psyche as it retrograded, or appeared to work backwards, in its own deep sign of Scorpio, since May 27. As Mars turns direct this Wednesday (and finally leaves Scorpio on August 2) it encourages us to build up healthy momentum, and may give us a break from the recent Mars difficulties around old resentments, anger, and obsessions, and unfinished emotional business. But the turbulence can increase as it turns direct.

This won’t be a problem for most of us. Though we all need to be extra aware of what swims in our psyche we can acknowledge our anger or frustrations, and then take considered action, rather than letting these creatures run the show. But let’s keep our eyes open for problems around us. Let’s consider staying away from murky swamps of all types, and walk towards dangerous, wild corners with care because there will be places in the world where old resentments erupt and strange creatures threaten. But we also may notice some frustrated ambition of ours now begins to build momentum.

Mars entered Scorpio on January 6, progressed into Sagittarius March 7, turned retrograde on April 17 and retrograded back into Scorpio on May 27. Mars turns direct this Wednesday and finally leaves Scorpio on August 2.

But first, Friday is a great day to weave community and check in on old friends and organizations. Under in Aquarius Moon we may be unusually aware of ourselves in the body politic, whether we are considering attending a pride parade or thinking about how England and the European Union affect our work, or assessing our own position on the block.

We may feel a little raw and squishy over the weekend under sensitive Moon in Pisces, so it will feel good to relax around people that we know and trust. Be gentle all around, everyone may be feeling a little raw or distracted by their inner workings.

But our energy kicks up a notch as the Moon enters Aries on Monday, we need to be quick on our feet early next week. Decisions are made and power is brokered as Jupiter trines Pluto. If we want to be involved in those decisions, we need to speak up now and become part of the solution.

The mood shifts on Wednesday, slows down and deepens but may bring up some truly difficult moments. Mercury leaves buzzy Gemini and goes into more deeply feeling and thinking Cancer, the Moon enters more settled, earthy Taurus, and Mars turns direct. What has been blocked may now unblock, but that goes for the truly difficult plans as well as the good ones. Venus opposes Pluto over the next two days, and we may get a chance to grieve or let the sadness flow, a first stage in the healing. Let’s just be aware that everyone of us may be dealing with something that strikes a deep chord in our emotional body this week. Kindness helps.

Friday, June 24: This morning a collaborative Aquarius Moon squares active Mars and encourages community organizing around a cause, whether the community is our household, our block, old friends, or a socio-political group with which we identified. Midday, we may feel at loose ends, but can strengthen our connections and check in on projects in motion. Everyone can use some support. Tonight we may feel unusually vulnerable and choose a safe place to be sensitive as the Moon enter dreamy Pisces.

Moon square Mars 8:26 AM, Moon sextile Uranus 9:47 AM, Moon enters Pisces 8:30 PM.

Saturday, June 25: It’s a good Saturday to drift in dream, to get a little maudlin and emotional, but a hard day to get anything done as the Moon conjuncts intuitive, watery Neptune and makes a lovely trine to the sun and Venus, but squares productive Saturn. We exchange information by osmosis, though not necessarily by words. Keep expectations low and the heart open; realized other people around may also be feeling a little raw and peeled.

Moon trine Sun 4:06 AM, Moon trine Venus 1:57 PM, Moon square Saturn 4:53 PM, Moon conjunct Neptune 5:45 PM.

Sunday, June 26: Be gentle with one another this morning. We stay unusually sensitive and may need privacy because our nerve endings feel exposed. Check and clarify intentions during a tricky spell midafternoon as it’s all too easy to miss a message or misunderstand one another as the Moon squares Mercury. Evening, a certain restlessness instigates a desire for change of scene, sensory stimulation, and good conversation about how we can make things better as Mercury sextiles Uranus.

Moon opposed Jupiter 1:35 AM, Moon sextile Pluto 1:39 AM, Jupiter trine Pluto 6:30 AM, Moon square Mars 1:13 PM, Moon square Mercury 1:54 PM, Moon conjunct Chiron 4:54 PM, Mercury sextile Uranus 8:31 PM.

Monday, June 27: Where we had a dream, yesterday, of improving the world, today we want to take more concrete action. Venus trines Neptune and brings a hopeful imagination to life, but the Moon kicks into activated Aries and hoping or wishing alone is not enough. We lose patience easily, but this can be to our advantage, don’t just get irritated; mobilize instead.

Moon enters Aries 1:07 AM, Chiron retrogrades 5:10 AM, Venus trine Neptune 7:52 AM, Mercury square Chiron 10:24 AM, Moon square Sun 12:18 PM, Moon trine Saturn 8:37 PM, Moon square Venus 10:59 PM.

Tuesday, June 28: Moody depression nags us early this morning as the Moon squares Pluto. People can be just plain difficult today, but sometimes we feel we need to be difficult in order to get out of social niceties and get to our path. But let’s try to believe that we can dive into our truly authentic self and do what we came here to do without pushing away others at the same time. Expect the unexpected around dinner time as the Moon conjuncts Uranus.

Moon square Pluto 5:13 AM, Moon conjunct Uranus 6:12 PM.

Wednesday, June 29: The Moon enters stubborn, sensual Taurus this morning, and Mercury leaves buzzy Gemini and enters more deeply feeling and thinking Cancer, which can, in the right circumstances, allow us to have a nurturing. Thoughtful. quiet day. But Mars also turns direct after weeks retrograde and that can really stir the pot. Where we do not have old resentments or hidden plans, all will be calm and begin to flow in the right direction. If people start to bring up something that has been bothering them, let them talk, make sure they feel heard, and wait to react and respond another day.

Moon sextile Mercury 1:45 AM, Moon enters Taurus 4:03 AM, Mercury enters Cancer 5:24 PM, Mars turns direct 5:38 PM, Moon sextile Sun 6:28 PM, Moon sextiles Neptune 11:58 PM.

Thursday, June 30: We need comfort and reassurance, good gentle supporting food, and patience to do things with a steady pace; there’s a lot of emotional processing going on, distracting us, while Venus opposes Pluto. Events may remind us of the frailty of human life, or we may notice that as we open our heart, we open to the possibility of loss. Let this awareness make each life more precious. And let’s avoid any temptation to manipulate the ones we love, to guilt trip, or to read our own emotional ghosts into the situation. Creativity heels.

Moon sextiles Venus 5:57 AM, Moon trine Pluto 7:17 AM, Moon trine Jupiter 8:20 AM, Moon opposed Mars 6:18 PM, Venus opposes Pluto 9:31 PM, Moon sextile Chiron 9:54 PM.

Starcodes horoscopes for January 22 – 28, 2016

by Heather Roan Robbins

We can see all the visible planets, Mercury (Capricorn), Venus and Saturn (Sagittarius), Mars (Scorpio) and Jupiter (Virgo) are visible in this order in the morning skies these days, but they are not conjunct nor parallel. Enjoy the view and feel their camaraderie, their relationship to one another, and to us. But the real astrological action these days happens less visibly. Pluto is hiding in the depths of the sky behind Mercury. Saturn squares non-visible Neptune still way below the horizon. And Mars, so strong in its traditional sign of Scorpio, trines that Neptune.

We may feel like we’re living in an artistic retrospective exhibit, and the artist is the creator of our lives. Over the last six weeks events may have triggered us to look back and remember emotionally intense events that changed the course of our lives. So many famous people have died and remind us of the moments in our lives when their music was playing, their movie rolled behind the scenes, when the book they wrote woke us up. Even if we missed all the famous obits, this haunting retrospective may have been triggered by our dreams, or a visit with an old relative, or some memorabilia unearthed from the back of our closet.

This process began right before Christmas as thoughtful Mercury first conjunct intense Pluto and set off a cascade of emotions. Mercury turned retrograde, or appeared to back up in the sky, on January 4, and has backed up to conjunct Pluto again this weekend under an expressive, emotionally fulsome full Moon in Leo. We may just need to wail or laugh, to overstate our feelings to get at the backlog. Listening will be the trick.

Mercury then pivots direct on Monday and stays conjunct with Pluto through the end of the month. Normally we feel this conjunction for about a week out of the year, but this time we get six full weeks where this aspect is in play and stirring our psyche.

So while Mercury brings our mind to it, let’s take a look at Pluto’s mythology. Pluto was lord of all that was received into the earth and all that we dig up from the earth, of death, rebirth, obsession and revolution. He was also considered the lord of mining, of gold, silver, all the jewels of the earth. It may be time to bury our dead, to really lay to rest something that is no longer alive for us, some hope, dream, or grudge. Give it funereal rites and let it go.

Or it could be time do some mining, to dig down deep in the caves of our soul and of our culture, dredge up dirt, rinse it away and find gold and jewels. We may see some great research or investigative reporting, but watch out for people who obsess on the dirt. Don’t get lost in those underground caves. If those interior rooms become fearsome, come back to the present and save the spelunking for later. Keep an eye on one another and send in the search party if a friend forgets to come up for air.

One more expression of Mercury conjunct Pluto can be found in Plutonian communication. When we tap into the positive side of this it gives power to our words and curiosity to the mind. But it also brings up words as bludgeoning power tools to hurt or manipulate, or near lethal mangling of ordinary communications. Look to recent political rallies for some messy examples.

One helpful and pragmatic way to use this aspect is to go back to a tough time in our lives and reconnect with the good that was buried within, and pull up those skills and those connections to see what new value we can find. Or find a chance meeting with an old companion offers us some new information or healing around those old tender places.

The stock market tends to respond to emotional transits rather than logical one, and so do the scarier corners of international politics. Mercury retrograde, stationery conjunct Pluto can make even simple conversation tricky, let alone conversations on really important or heavy topics. Sometimes we just can’t find the right words. Or no matter how eloquently speak, sometimes they just can’t hear us. Finances and politics may stay volatile until these aspects even out in February.

We can also expect a continuation of basic retrograde slapstick; let’s be forgiving when people are late due to a dead car battery, broken server, or frozen pipes. Make sure urgent messages actually get where they mean to go. Mercury turns direct on Monday, so moods and messages begin to straighten out towards the end of the week.

Friday, January 22: Our emotions run high tide as the waxing Cancer Moon opposes the exact Mercury Pluto conjunction. We splash around in the pool of memories, writhe in a snow drift of the best and worst of our emotions, or may just want to burrow back into bed and nest.  Sudden decisions made now may be reconsidered; sudden losses may be temporary but rock the boat. It furthers to be compassionate with one another in this mushy state; consider it an opportunity to build trust.

Moon trine Mars 12:15 AM, Mercury conjunct Pluto 2:58 AM, Moon opposed Mercury10:16 AM, moon trine Chiron 3:06 PM, Moon sextile Jupiter 11:20 PM.

Saturday, January 23: morning is quieter drifting. Our emotional needs grow and we can feel the need for attention, for a moment in the sun of another’s eyes, as the moon waxes full in Leo this afternoon. We want melodrama, party, community work; we need something as strong and colorful as our feelings. Share the limelight and all will be well, but if we withhold or grandstand, others will act out.

Moon enters Leo 12:20 PM, Venus enters Capricorn 1:31 PM, Moon opposes Sun 6:45 PM,

Sunday, January 24: Early morning can be cranky, we can step on each other’s toes with impatience as the Moon squares Mars and we deal with some inevitable delays. Let everyone take a moment to shine midday, and the ensuing collaborative ingenuity can really cook. Tonight, restrain some effort to give more than is healthy, or to sacrifice more than is useful.

Moon square Mars 9:10 AM, Moon trine Saturn 1:24 PM, Moon trine Uranus 7:51 PM, Saturn trine Vesta 10:54 PM.

Monday, January 25: Sympathy, patience and humor can salvage this awkward Monday morning. Energy swirls in place as Mercury appears to hold still before it turns direct. Things just don’t go as planned, and delays proliferate. We spin in place like a bear in its den, trying to find a comfortable spot, and can get mighty cranky if we can’t. Health concerns can get in the way of our romance or our creative enthusiasm. Lost items are found, real opinions and secrets revealed as the week progresses.

Mars conjunct Juno 1:31 AM, Venus square Hygeia 2:01 AM, Mercury turns direct 2:49 PM, Moon enters Virgo 8:45 PM.

Tuesday, January 26: After a friendlier, it easier morning, we may make some mistake, Mrs. signal wade through some self-doubts or notice our critical defenses as the Virgo Moon opposes Neptune midday. It can be hard to finish any project, because we always see what needs fixing. We can unproductively notice what needs editing in our beloveds unless we consciously focus on their good points.

Moon trine Venus 2:50 AM., Moon opposed Neptune 12:51 PM, Moon Sextile Mars 9:11 PM, Moon square Saturn 11:33 PM.

Wednesday, January 27: Rocks are turned over and we find both things we need, and squirming evidence we’d rather not. An unsettled, edgy critique, and depression whispers, but this too shall pass, everything is transitory, nothing needs to be stuck here no matter what it feels like. No need to prove oneself. Ride the waves and support one another. It’s easier to see the silver lining around dinner time.

Moon trine Mercury 2:09 AM, Moon trine Pluto 3:56 AM, Moon opposed Chiron 9:04 AM, Moon conjunct Jupiter 5:10 PM.

Thursday, January 28: The communication begins to straighten out today, we interact and can exchange ideas with a little more friendliness though may stay guarded for a while longer. If possible, be forgiving about hurt feelings from stumbled words and distracted psyches over the last few weeks. The signals still cross and social moments can trip up with a dash of awkwardness tonight as the Moon squares Venus and the Sun semi-sex tiles Neptune, but it is easier to believe one another’s good intentions.

Moon enters Libra 7:59 AM, Sun semi-sextile Neptune 1:45 PM, Moon square Venus 9:14 PM.

Starcodes horoscopes for January 1 – 7, 2016

by Heather Roan Robbins

There are some things you learn best in calm, and some in storm.
Willa Cather

Apathy can be overcome by enthusiasm, and enthusiasm can only be aroused by two things: first, an ideal, which takes imagination by storm, and second, a definite intelligible plan for caring that ideal into practice.
Arnold Toynbee

Free weekly horoscopesWe’ll have plenty of opportunity to learn from both calm and storm in 2016, and we need to stay awake, alive, engaged in hopeful to learn what we need to learn and direct the changes.

Let’s look at the lay of the land as 2016 dawns. Cultural earthquakes rumble on and momentum builds for the changes already in progress, but the dust is still so stirred up we can’t see the new pathways. We’re resonating from the 7 squares formed between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn between 2012-15, now waning but still within orb throughout the year, and the aftershocks will be with us for several more. Think back to the Uranus-Pluto conjunction of 1965-68 (our last major Uranus-Pluto interaction), the enormous cultural shifts stimulated then resonated and revolutionized our culture and politics through the early ’70s.

Pluto in Capricorn (2008-24) asks us to renovate our approach to political, financial, and personal power around the globe. We see an effort to crack down and tighten rule, debates on how governing structures, from political parties to our own circles. Rebellion will naturally foment in response, energized by revolutionary, anarchistic Uranus in independent Aries (2010-18). Over and over again we’ll learn the lesson that only a third perspective, where all parties can be heard and empowered, takes us beyond struggle and into creation.

The separating Uranus-Pluto square is still a powerful engine, it can amp up any fight or war we let get started. It can also leave us depressed or pushy if we don’t have clear goals. But it can also give us the charge we need to tackle our work and change our world for the better. We have an incredible potential to change how we do what we do around the globe.

Every time one of the faster moving personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars) hits Pluto or Uranus, they sound off that square and our whole world vibrates; we are thrown a few wildcards and all our ongoing cultural changes are stirred up again. We saw this as Mars rang that bell in November and December of 2015, as Mercury conjunct Pluto and twang our issues of mortality and power a week before Christmas, and we will feel it again next week as the Sun conjuncts Pluto and rings that bell again on January 6, 2016, just as Mercury turns retrograde.

Uranus in Aries strangely attracts people to drastic solutions. Lightning bolts can crack open our sky and shock us with sudden challenges or exciting opportunities. A new generation needs to sort out their relationship to violence, and we can help them choose peace if we encourage this urgent hope towards a balance of power, and prove that people will listen, that they don’t have to resort to violence to be heard. If we don’t give them faith in this process, we can expect the revolutionary momentum to build.

Underneath this compelling search for new answers, Neptune in Pisces (2011-25) lets the veil between the worlds stay thin. Our imagination and spiritual hunger sit like a welcoming pool, waiting for us, though we have to consciously reach in to activate. Neptune in Pisces also highlights water issues of all type. Water quality, availability, pollution, floods and droughts; and all this is underlined and emphasized as Saturn squares Neptune on and off from November 2015 through September 2016.

As Saturn in Neptune square we see how permeable all boundaries are, the boundaries of our immune system, the boundaries between countries. We see they are an illusion, that we are all one, and that what happens to the least of us happens to all of us.

Saturn in Sagittarius (2015-18) puts on the front burner and gives us a chance to work on a restructure all international relationships, educational and legal systems. On a personal level Saturn in Sagittarius wants us to be honest about our work and asks us to walk, dance, and bring disciplined joy to our movement. Saturn in Sagittarius will support any effort we make towards greener transportation methods.

Jupiter in Virgo (until 9/10) spurs the urge for public health and encourages publishing and education on all health-related matters, and gives us visceral examples to show how our health and our work are deeply intertwined. Our work can set us free. Jupiter in Libra (after 9/10) encourages us to explore expanded concepts of partnership.

Just after New Year’s, the Sun conjuncts Pluto (1/4) and asks us to face our discouragement, work through it, integrate conflicting needs and find a productive and powerful way forward with unusual imagination and honesty. The Quadrantids meteor shower (1/3, 4) encourages new solutions outside our normal purview. Mid-January as Mars trines Neptune, let’s let go of an inappropriate anger, a place where we’ve held other people responsible for our happiness, and take the reins back.

Stay cool, calm, and collected this week, especially under stress, because although the mood can be focused and determined at peace, it could get really volatile in the face of accident, confusion, or anger. Sunday, Mars enters Scorpio, then the sun conjuncts Plutoon Tuesday as Mercury stations turning retrograde. Misunderstandings or missteps occurred easily, just as our temper sharpens. If a major international incident occurs around this time, it will have long ranging long-term effects. We may be tested by an event, realization, or by a flood of memories, but Mercury encourages us to work through our discouragement, integrate conflicting needs and take an unusually honest and imaginative approach.

Mercury, arbiter of communications, nervous systems, and transportation, usually retrogrades three times a year, but this year we’re lucky and get four, starting Tuesday. Mercury retrogrades 1/5-1/25, 4/28-5/22, 8/30-9/21, and 12/19-1/8/17.  Throughout January let’s finish projects already in the works, review last year’s events, and change our plans based on this new understanding.

Leave the rest of the week to unravel and recollect. Keep the schedule loose and mobile, and be ready to respond to unusual short-term demands. Do not let little things snowball into big snafus, keep priorities clear. Let’s remember what we’re doing and where we want to go, and clear the decks of unfinished business. February launches a new chapter.

Friday, January 1: Let this morning be quiet and contemplative as the waning Libra Moon squares the Sun and Pluto. We need to sleep in. Review more than plan- and make resolutions on the following weekend’s New Moon in Capricorn. As Mercury trines the asteroid of Hygeia tonight and Mercury enters more philosophical Aquarius, our minds are brought to how do we make our lives healthier, and the world around us were connected. Collaborative dialogue picks up.

Moon sextile Venus 5:05 AM, Mercury trine Hygeia 7:07 PM, Mercury enters Aquarius7:19 PM, Moon square Sun 10:30 PM, Moon sextile Saturn 10:35 PM, Sun semi-sextile Saturn 11:34 PM.

Saturday, January 2: Tie up loose ends, further ongoing conversations but keep the schedule loose, expectations low, and relationships prioritized. Uncomfortable thoughts or events may be likely early in the morning as the moon squares Pluto and opposes Uranus, but then the energy becomes more free-form and floating. Our brains may feel like a puddle and make it more comfortable to rattle around, do art projects and meander together.

Moon square Pluto 6:22 AM, Moon opposed Uranus 9:23 AM.

Sunday, January 3: Our tails twitch, crowds bug us, and we may have had enough of our relatives as the Moon and Mars both enter solitude- loving, serious Scorpio and conjunct. If we talk, we need to get real and get deep. Speak from compassion though, because confrontations and attempts to control will escalate. It may help to take a solitary journey or disappear with a good mystery story.

Mars enters Scorpio 7:32 AM, Moon enters Scorpio 12:35 PM, Moon conjuncts Mars12:50 PM, Moon square Mercury 2:11 PM. Mars semi-sextile Hygeia 7:08 PM

Monday, January 4: The morning could be surly and uncooperative; low-level anxiety is distracting people. Give them room to be cranky and stay focused on the few things that actually need to be done. We may feel overextended, as if we have been doing too much for others and not taking care of ourselves as Venus trines Vesta and a day to renew the wells can make a difference.

Tuesday, January 5: Safety first, it’s very easy to say the wrong thing and set people off on this tricky, emotional day as Mercury retrogrades and conjuncts Mars and the Sun conjuncts Pluto. We are not really able to see a healthy balance between our needs and others with Venus square Neptune, and are likely to project our feelings, our hopes and fears, on one another rather than perceive each other clearly. Drive safely, speak consciously, cut everyone a lot of slack, and check in on depressed friends.

Wednesday, January 6: The Moon enters Sagittarius and lightens the mood. It’s a bit easier to see what’s really going on with one another, or to speak up when we realize a misperception. Deal with present emergencies and begin a discussion about the future, just keep any plans adjustable through the end of the month.

Thursday, January 7: An interesting shift in perspective lets us look at past events with fresh eyes as the Sun squares Uranus, we may need to correct or adjust projects already in the works, or wake up to our role in a former difficulty. If so, rather than beat ourselves up about the past, let this offer tools to make the future better. A temporary change in routine furthers. Issues of publishing, broadcasting, or PR may need to be put on hold briefly.
