This week brings paradoxical messages from the stars; some aspects will slow us down and others stimulate events that need our attention right now. Let’s roll with the changes in the agenda, take advantage of serendipitous spontaneous moments, but let’s not even pretend we can control what happens.

To work with these mixed planetary instructions, it helps if we dance with the paradoxes and explore all possibilities but jump to no conclusions. Look back to the past, but stay aware in the present. Take delays as an opportunity to make better decisions. Mercury retrograde in its own sign of Virgo adds a slapstick quality of outrageous communications glitches and brings strange twists of fate. Legal decisions can flip-flop. We may need to go back and touch base with people we know and love as well as people with whom we’ve worked with before and might again.

Friday unfolds under an exploratory, upbeat but impatient Sagittarius Moon, we can feel ready for a journey, but not have the keys in our hands. Jupiter, the planet we associate with expansion, freedom, and bounty, begins a year in Libra, the sign of social justice and delightful egalitarian relationships. All forms of relationships, from our love life to our international allies, move towards the front burner this year.

Over this weekend, and just in time for our tough memories of our country’s history, Venus squares Pluto and connects us with our powerful emotion of grief, loss, fear of loss, loneliness, or depth of feeling and healthy priorities in the face of it all, right on September 11. Mercury is retrograde also letting our mind linger on the past, for better or worst. We review, remember, and can reconnect.

And this can bring us down to a layer of existential depression or concern as Saturn squares Neptune for the third and last time (11/26/15, 6/17/16, 9/10/16). Let’s think back on any unfinished business we may have that occurred in this rhythm, and look for closure or a fresh layer of understanding. This aspect brings weltschmerz- world weariness-but also encourages us to put form to our spiritual search or creative process. It supports all work done to protect water, Neptune’s element, in particular efforts to restrict (Saturn’s gift) pollution related to fossil fuels and water (both Neptune’s work).

We may feel extra permeable under this aspect, may need extra rest and notice that our immune system and our psychic boundaries needs support. And if everything takes on a dull sheen or we begin to be passively depressed and lethargic about our political involvement or hope for the world, it’s important that we not believe the clouds, but forgive ourselves and contemplate our life in a more gentle, reflective light to remember where we’re heading, and why.

Monday brings up new possibilities as the Moon enters Aquarius and reconnects us. But the Sun and retrograde Mercury both square Mars on Tuesday which can make us reactively decisive. We need to stay focused on what we want, not we don’t want, and be particularly careful in any accident-prone situations, for instance around touchy equipment, difficult people or sharp objects.

The Moon waxes full in Pisces on Wednesday and Thursday and brings in a dreamy, emotional quality. It will help to stay busy and stay kind.

Friday, September 9: We may have a compulsion to speak our truth, inconvenient or not, this morning as the Moon conjuncts Mars in Sagittarius. We may feel rushed and tempted to hurry, but this can cause more delays, so have patience. This day can be eventful, action oriented, but may be busier than it is effective. Watch for communication glitches around dinner as the Moon squares Neptune, and make sure there’s room to move tonightas the Sagittarius Moon trines Uranus.

Jupiter enters Libra 5:18 AM, Moon square Sun 5:48 AM, Moon conjunct Mars 9:10 AM, Moon square Mercury 6:25 PM, Moon trine Uranus 6:50 AM.

Saturday, September 10: The mood is grimly efficient, a bit cranky and not interested in fluff. We want people to get on with it, we’re happy when they do, but can be impatient if they don’t with the Moon in competent Capricorn as Saturn squares Neptune. But we are not dealing with logic here. Take a chance to get to the root of what slows us down or stops us as Saturn squares Neptune. Underneath an existential grayness is a chance to get at something fundamental and build from there.

Mercury opposed Chiron 5:50 AM, Moon enters Capricorn 6:54 AM, Saturn square Neptune 7:30 AM, Moon square Jupiter 7:21 AM.

Sunday, September 11: We are aware of partings, loss, danger, and feel with of existential long homesickness as Venus squares Pluto while the Moon conjuncts Pluto. Relationships can become a bit obsessive thoughts of revenge whisper around the edges. Underneath that can also be strong and deep connection. It helps to work, to work together towards a common cause, small or large. Just reel in control issues and make it collaboration.

Venus square Pluto 1:47 AM, Moon sextile Neptune 2:54 AM, Moon conjunct Pluto 11:36 AM, Moon square Venus 12:39 PM, Moon trine son 8:35 PM, Moon trine Mercury 11:36 PM.

Monday, September 12: This morning, don’t push a new agenda, because we are more likely to say no then yes. Give us room to vent, process problems, and find short-term solutions as Mercury squares Mars. We can get abrupt, and say things we don’t mean. Accidents and transportation abound but so can precise engineering decisions. Afternoon is more sociable and proactive; our attention is brought to the bigger community as the Moon enters Aquarius.

Moon square Uranus 3:58 AM, Mercury square Mars 12:58 PM, Moon enters Aquarius3:28 PM, Moon trine Jupiter for 40 9 PM, Sun conjunct Mercury 5:39 PM.

Tuesday, September 13: If we are a little lonely, melancholic, or wonder what if, or if only, let’s notice how we are isolating ourselves or not choosing to create connection. Balance the need for solitude with a need for the group, feel connected by helping others. Good deeds weave relationships. Depression, sadness, and lethargy lift if we feel we can do something about the situation.

Moon sextile Saturn 10:29 AM, Sun square Mars 2:38 PM,

Wednesday, September 14: The mood can be a bit disconnected and floating, waiting for something to. Let life be the journey, make the most of the process. When delayed, meditate. Evening we grow more sensitive and vulnerable, but keep an eye on timing as a mental fog begins to rise.

Moon trine Sun 12:40 AM, Moon sextile Mars 6:23 AM, Moon sextile Uranus 9:31 AM, Moon enters Pisces 8:22 PM.

Thursday, September 15: In this morning’s fuzzyheaded confusion, comes an opportunity to tap dance on an old sore, or help it heal, as the Sun opposes Chiron, we make the choice. We can feel older tired this afternoon and need to rest, or if where feeling rather puddled and emotional but have to deal anyway, take it one step at a time, one building block at a time rather than look at the whole effort and feel overwhelmed.

Moon conjunct Neptune 1:45 PM, Moon square Saturn 2:25 PM, Moon sextile Pluto 9:34 PM, Mars square Chiron 9:54 PM.

This is a Labor Day weekend to relax, not labor. The astrological conditions are lousy for industrious efficient precision but lovely for introspection, reconnecting with old friends, helping, healing, analyzing woes and discussing what makes the world fair and lovely. It’s time to listen to our soul and share our thoughts. It’s time to listen to the dragonfly hover over the pond or dove coo in the corner park.

[ad name=”AdSense Responsive”]

As the weekend begins the Sun opposes confusing, drifting Neptune, which can leave us feeling fuzzy, foggy, waterlogged, or just painfully aware of factors which challenge our decisions. Sloppy or foggy conditions, misunderstandings abound, so does a perfectly healthy desire to escape for the weekend. Drift away, but be careful around potential water damage, storms, fossil fuels, or awkward alcohol consumption, all Neptunian dangers.

A friendly and fair Libra Moon conjunct sociable Venus helps us relax and connect with one another over the weekend, but won’t help us get to work. To help the busy Virgo work ethic relax it helps to see connecting and renewing, as well as artistic creation, as a form of soul work.

On Monday, Labor Day the Scorpio Moon can bring us new focus for our work, though it can also bring out an irascible element. Let’s plan our picnics over the weekend, take Monday to do exactly what we want, and keep the social obligations minimal, as we can get a little snarky at the softball game. This Scorpio intensity helps us focus on our work Tuesday and Wednesday as the Sun trines intense Pluto and demands attention to the real issues of our life. We can stand back, and get better perspective under Thursday’s Sagittarius Moon.

Throughout the week we may notice a strangely subdued, self-conscious streak stemming from the Sun, Mercury retrograde and Jupiter all now in thoughtful Virgo, and all beautifully visible together to the west just after Sunset. Virgo’s symbol is a woman holding a sheaf of wheat, from back in the day when our daily bread meant life. She represents the capacity to sorts seed from chaff, to discern the difference between sacred nutrient and waste.

While this skill can be powerfully productive, this editorial process can hurt when we turn it inwards on ourselves or turn it towards those we love. It’s a good week to truly introspect, but let’s not get too hard on ourselves, and be kind to ourselves if we feel unusually cautious about taking risk and stepping forward. Let’s give extra encouragement to students who are off to meet a classroom full of new people under this Virgo line-up, and lean in on the wonderful Virgoan capacity for empathic kindness.

Patience will be more than a virtue this week as Mercury is retrograde and in its own sign of Virgo. While this retrograde brings a wonderful time to review, edit, renew, and pick up old work where we left off, let’s keep a five second lead on our critical edge. Keep track of small, easily lost but essential items. And put safety first in all transportation matters.

Be particularly careful about misunderstandings around offers to help. Before we bring supplies down to a charity, find out if we are bringing what they actually need. Before we share that brilliant critique or helpful suggestion to child or mate, let’s ask if it will just irritate others or will it actually improve the situation. And before we snap at a relative for their helpful suggestions, let’s think about their motivation. And as with all Mercury retrograde times, if tension does arise, let’s assume it’s a misunderstanding, and listen for the truth underneath.

Friday, September 2: The energy may be low, the mood confusing though potentially optimistic as the Sun opposed Neptune. Our efforts drift. We can’t see clearly, people may believe our stories, but it’s harder to see what is real and true. Dream away, engage imagination and intuition, but just check facts again in the coming days. Tonight, notice a beautiful Moon-Jupiter- Mercury conjunction, and let in its healing power of camaraderie.

Sun opposed Neptune 10:37 AM, Mercury conjunct Jupiter 11:17 AM, Moon conjunct Mercury 3:59 PM, Moon conjunct Jupiter 4:12 PM, Moon enters Libra 6:55 PM.

Saturday, September 3: Morning is potentially gentle, but we may be averse to hurry or hard manual labor; keep the agenda loose and trust the body if it needs to relax and rest up. We may not be particularly realistic, be easily bamboozled by our hopes and fears, or fall in love with a beautiful antique and be deluded about its actual worth. Avoid unnecessary major purchases, let memories simmer up in a constructive and healing way. Engage creativity to listen to the soul’s progress.

Moon conjunct Venus 5:29 AM, Moon sextile Saturn 12:55 PM.

Sunday, September 4: We have more energy to wrestle with our fate this morning, may want to sink our teeth into a project or debate our future. Listen to the oracles, pay attention to auspicious conversations. Tonight a restlessness can send us out and about or encourage us to make a fresh new year’s resolution for the year ahead.

Moon square Pluto 12:39 AM, Moon sextile Mars 2:12 AM, Moon opposite Uranus 6:30 PM,

Monday, September 5: Let’s give our intensity something to focus upon, some project, research, a positive obsession, otherwise we can just start poking and digging inappropriately and hurt each other accidentally. Misunderstandings abound and activities may have trouble building momentum. If somebody appears to be in a bad mood, just let them have some time alone. Solitude may be essential to hit the reset button for the busy weeks ahead.

Moon enters Scorpio 6:38 AM.

Tuesday, September 6: Don’t say too much or try to debate; when things get muddy, our attempt to clarify may only stir the waters. Instead gather up loose ends, check in on progress and assess students. Gather information today. Get on the same page with others, not by discussing how, but by finding common goals and clarifying direction as the Sun trines Pluto.

Moon trine Neptune 3:54 AM, Moon sextile Sun 12:05 PM, Moon sextile Pluto 1:01 PM, Sun trine Pluto 11:19 PM.

Wednesday, September 7: Temporary restrictions may be helpful, so work within smaller boundaries to complete the work and create something solid. Renew old connections and ask for, or offer, mentorship as Venus sextiles Saturn. We can feel appreciation where we have built trust through our actions in the past. New information tonight informs our next steps.

Venus sextile Saturn 5:33 AM, Moon sextile Mercury 10:38 AM, Moon sextile Jupiter 6:42 PM, Moon entered Sagittarius 7:19 PM.

Thursday, September 8: A streak of dark humor brings a lighthearted moment. This morning may can bring openings; new people, broach new subjects, feel a bit more brave and extroverted though we may not be particularly organized. It helps to take children and dogs on a run, and probably ourselves, before we have the concentration to sit still. Decisions are needed late this afternoon as the Moon conjunct Saturn, but keep them simple, practical, and localized.

Moon conjunct Saturn 4:06 PM, Moon square Neptune 4:20 PM, Moon sextile Venus 7:53 PM.

The stars ask us to savor late summer’s ephemeral beauty and get ready for the year ahead. Mercury turns retrograde on Tuesday and nudges us to review our last year, renew old friendships and connections. A Virgo New Moon lunar eclipse on Thursday asks us to let go of ideas and practices that are no longer working for us, and start a new cycle. We can plant seeds now, but won’t really launch this fall’s enterprises until Mercury turns direct on the equinox, September 22. The beginning of September will be our chance to review, refresh, and pick up work we let go earlier.

[ad name=”AdSense Responsive”]

As the weekend begins we can see a beautiful conjunction between Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter in the early evening western sky. This lineup can expand (Jupiter) our thoughts (Mercury) with creativity and care (Venus). They are all lined up in earthy Virgo, which suggests that love can be best expressed through understanding what needs to be repaired, fixed, appreciated, and healed. This conjunction turns up the volume on our emotions, it is a great weekend to get married, gather with beloveds. Invest in art. Engage in compassionate action. Brainstorm how to heal the world.

This Venusian line-up can make the best even better, but can also exacerbate the longing in our hearts. It can amp up our emotional expectations, bring up frustration and anger where we don’t feel weak can fully express our creative process or our heart’s content. We can get restless and twitchy in relationships where we feel taken for granted or feel criticized. Because we are feeling so tender, critique can grate against our extra sensitive nerves.

As the weekend begins, active Mars squares intuitive Neptune, an aspect also which also has interestingly complex symbology. It offers us a chance to dissolve an old anger or outmoded ambition, and may bring complex situations which require both strength and sensitivity. We may have the urge to escape, feel sleepy, or need to be discreet about our actions as Mars squares Neptune. Other people’s indecision can really anger us, but it may be their truth. Any attempt to deceive can really cause a problem.

But it also brings up anger and the need for action (Mars) around water (Neptune) issues. We can get mad and/or take action around the potential for pollution of water (underlining the Native American fight for clean water in the Dakota oil fields), problems around floods, too much or too little water.

The Moon in verbal Gemini on Friday keeps the conversation going, the Cancer Moon on Saturday through Monday can our tendency to protect our heart, but it will be good to be around family or to return to places we have loved before.

Venus enters its own sociable sign of Libra on Monday and can help us finish summer’s emotional business. Mercury turns retrograde on Tuesday (appears to back up in the sky) and begins three weeks of review, reconnection as well as adds a few logistical complications. On Thursday a Virgo New Moon-lunar eclipse signals a turning point, a new work cycle but one that will have trouble taking off unless we are centered and patient. If (and when) arguments occur, let’s stop hypothesizing, no matter how right we think we are, and find solid facts.

Friday, August 26: Morning may be nervy as we juggle ideas and information; plans and mindsets changing minute by minute. Let’s stay light on our toes and flexible to make them good changes. Afternoon is generally warmhearted, but if we feel spread too thin we can get socially brittle, and that interrupts communication. Evening calls us back in, we may feel sociable early on but then need to curl back into the familiar and nest as the Moon enters domestic Cancer.

Mars square Neptune 12:56 AM, Moon sextile Uranus 11:02 AM, Moon square Venus 2:11 PM, Moon square Jupiter 4:09 PM, Moon square Mercury 6:30 PM, Moon enters Cancer9:06 PM.

Saturday, August 27: Relax, this day could be full of sweetness and love- if we don’t take it too seriously- as Venus conjuncts Jupiter in Virgo. Look for opportunities, find a way to share affection. Engage the arts with the whole soul, music, craft, creation. Don’t push people out of their comfort zones because they’re not interested today. Do take responsibility for one’s own happiness; the only danger is a tendency to start holding other people responsible for our happiness and resenting the lack thereof. Find the beauty nearby.

Moon sextile Sun 5:07 AM, Moon trine Neptune 3:58 PM, Venus conjunct Jupiter 4:28 PM, Moon opposed Pluto 11:38 PM.

Sunday, August 28: We may need time alone or with our closest people this morning, if we feel overextended we will not be interested in engaging strangers. Unless we can help. It can feel wonderful to reach out and help someone who really needs it today, which will bring a very different than being drained by people that can stand on their own two feet. Evening brings a softening; friendliness and poetry if we just look for it.

Moon square Uranus 3:41 PM, Moon sextile Jupiter 9:54 PM.

Monday, August 29: Reach out and connect; say goodbye to summer friends, remember people in your neighborhood, warm-up contacts needed for the fall, explore new neighborhood all as the Moon enters extroverted Leo this morning and Venus enters warmhearted and sociable Libra this afternoon. The aspects this week help us make easy transitions from one social sphere or sphere of interests to another. It will also bring our attention to issues of social justice and encourage a need for fairness on all sides.

Moon sextile Venus 12:22 AM, Moon sextile Mercury 12:23 AM, Mercury conjunct Venus12:32 AM, Moon enters Leo 2:11 AM, Venus enters Libra 8:06 PM, Moon trine Saturn 8:20 PM.

Tuesday, August 30: This day can spin in circles for better or worse, Mercury turns retrograde and steps on the brakes as the as the Leo Moon trines both Mars and Uranus, and steps on the gas. Have patience, take advantages of opportunity but don’t push where there is resistance. Don’t try to push through that resistance, instead, notice where there are openings, or take a moment to hold still. Think of the Korean expression for a meditation retreat which reads literally “to leap like a tiger while sitting”. We can plant seeds now that will grow in the months to come, though we may not see results until at least October.

Moon trine Mars 1:50 AM, Mercury retrograde 7:03 AM, Moon trine Uranus 10:19 PM.

Wednesday, August 31: We can get nervous and critically grumpy about delays that arrive just as so much needs to be done; we become unusually aware of our to-do lists as the Moon enters the dark of the Moon in Virgo. If our nervous system refuses to work and just needs to hold still, do so; it will help us be more efficient in the long run. We can relax, do what we can, and let ourselves digest and absorb our life. Don’t believe an inner critical litany, do look for and celebrate what is working.

Moon enters Virgo 9:22 AM.

Thursday, September 1: We can all feel so serious on this new Moon eclipse in Virgo, exact at 3:03 AM MDT, and opposed confusing Neptune. We can make excuses of why we may feel not up to the day, with energy low, feeling insecure or with a tendency to generalize anything negative. Or we can make this a day to hit a reset button and recommit to our health and the health of the world around us, one gentle step at a time.

Moon conjunct Sun 3:03 AM, Moon square Saturn 4:24 AM, Moon opposed Neptune 5:32 AM, Moon square Mars 12:38 PM, Sun square Saturn 9: 21 PM.

This week’s mood can be generally upbeat and enthusiastic as mental Mercury conjunct expansive Jupiter in Virgo. We can shift gears and find positive changes doing something we hadn’t done before, or haven’t done for a long while as the Sun trines change-master Uranus, an aspect which can act like a cosmic clutch.

Along with an interesting summer week, work projects begin to shift and move forward, though we could wrestle over who’s in charge or who had authority as Saturn turns direct after a long retrograde cycle. Think back to work, structure, or plans, that were beginning to build momentum in March, ones that were delayed when Saturn retrograded aroundMarch 26, and begin to stir the embers of those fires.

[ad name=”AdSense Responsive”]

But in an undercurrent waiting underneath this pleasant, potentially busy week, we can feel hurt by the actions of another person, politician, or event that happens to tap dance on an old psychic scar as Jupiter opposes the asteroid Chiron. Whether we run into a difficult relative, someone who reminds us of one, or hit a familiar challenging situation, we may be forced out of our comfort zone and required to grow in ways that we’d not choose otherwise.

If we feel so triggered, it’s important to remember that we’re not back among those old memories, we’re right here in the present moment. If we can face the situation kindly and courageously, we can reset that pattern, and reclaim a breath of personal power.

Friday and Saturday the Moon travels through cheerful, restless Sagittarius, keeping the mood upbeat and restless even as our deeper work is activated. Our romantic life and artistic career is complicated as creative Venus first forms a challenging square to serious Saturn on Saturday, then opposes confusing Neptune on Sunday. Our natural flow of affection could feel tested; chores can cramp our love life or visiting relatives can get in the way of our creative endeavors. And we may need to act upon our sense of compassion.

It can be hard to see what’s happening clearly during this time as Venus opposes Neptune, so it will help to keep lines of communication wide open with beloveds, check in with one another and make sure they are doing okay under whatever the circumstances. One good thing about this Saturn-Venus aspect is that old friendships and healthy relationship skills help us pull through. And when we prove we’re there for one another, it grows our trust. If our imagination feels temporarily cramped, practicing the skills of our craft opens up the creative process.

A Capricorn Moon on Sunday and Monday can bring determination, but if we don’t have a place to put our determination, it can also bring depression. Find purpose. Wasting time will be hard, so make any moment useful.

Midweek is wildly sociable under a full Moon in community-oriented Aquarius, one of the great gathering times of year. Wednesday night the Sun trines Uranus and helps us switch gears and get excited. Venus trines Pluto, deepens our feelings and helps us know what we want. Though we may feel extra emotional as the Moon heads into Pisces on Thursday. Look for clues as to why we might feel optimistic toward the weekend.

Friday, Aug 12: Serious, fair, and pointed conversation helps start a process or a journey as an upbeat, restless Sagittarius Moon conjuncts Mars and Saturn. The mood slows down midday, we may feel unusually tender and need to process our life or memories.Tonight, low-key wandering soothes the soul. We’ll need companions to be supportive and low maintenance.

Moon square Mercury 3:57 AM, Moon conjunct Saturn 6:51 AM, Moon square Neptune9:38 AM, Jupiter opposed Chiron 5:59 PM, Moon square Mercury 10:59 PM

Saturday, August 13: Just go ahead and deal with those responsibilities and have is good time with one another in the process as Venus squares Saturn. Questions about what something fundamental to us, to our sense of personal authority or history, murmur in the background of an otherwise upbeat day. Rely on good relationship skills; do the right thing and affection returns.

Saturn stations and turns direct 3:49 AM, Moon trine Sun 5:05 AM, Venus squares Saturn8:30 AM, Moon trine Uranus 11:27 AM, Moon square Jupiter 11:36 AM, Moon enters Capricorn 10:11 PM.

Sunday, August 14: A lazy streak can breed misunderstandings. Our brains and heart may need to slip out of gear and putter in neutral as Venus opposes Neptune, but an industrious Capricorn Moon nags us to work, or at least prompts us come up with great suggestion for other people to do. Let the imagination wander; sketch out ideas about the future, but keep it simple in present time.

Venus opposed Neptune 11:03 AM, Moon sextile Neptune 7:13 PM, Moon trine Venus8:06 PM.

Monday, August 15: Morning can leave us feeling grim or painfully aware of our failings as a Moon-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn whispers to us about all the work that needs to be done. We’ll feel younger, if argumentative, by noontime. Just keep working, as progress helps good spirits return tonight.

Moon conjunct Pluto 3:04 AM, Moon trine Mercury 12:59 PM, Moon square Uranus 7:42 PM, Moon trine Jupiter 8:44 PM.

Tuesday, August 16: What change can we make today? The Sun trines change-inducing Uranus as the Moon enters forward-thinking Aquarius. Brainstorm and explore possibilities this morning. Even the dogs will want to take a different route. Afternoon brings more industrious competence.

Moon enters Aquarius 5:52 AM, Sun trines Uranus 2:23 PM, Moon sextile Mars 4:49 PM, Moon sextile Saturn 11:21 PM.

Wednesday, August 17: It’s a great day to meet, celebrate, or show off; community flourishes when we all express our potential. Competition isn’t the point. Gather for a cause, pursue the heart’s calling as Venus trines Pluto. Tonight’s full Moon in community-oriented Aquarius is one of the best moments to gather all year.

Venus trine Pluto 8:17 PM.

Thursday, August 18: Our minds cook, our thoughts gather early this morning, though the middle of the day may lose steam and decisiveness. It may be hard to do ordinary boring things, we want to be part of larger events and stronger dramatic arc. Sentimentality, sensitivity and free-floating emotions swirl as the Moon enters Piscestonight.

Moon sextile Uranus 12:50 AM, Moon opposed the Sun 3:26 AM, Moon enters Pisces10:34 AM, Moon square Mars 10:53 PM.
