Starcodes horoscopes for June 27 – July 3, 2014sam
by Heather Roan Robbins
It’s a good week to just chill, to sit in our hammock or enjoy arts festivals and engage the hazy summery mentality. But this may be easier said than done. The Sun and Venus interact with intuitive, impressionistic, vague, and watery Neptune this week and inspire our summer daydreams and brings a layer of lassitude and emotional fog echoed by Mercury as it finishes its retrograde cycle (June 7- July 1). Mercury turns direct and begins to clear the air and return our efficiency just in time for July 4 festivities.
These Neptunian aspects create a wonderful atmosphere to explore our sensitivities or put our romantic fantasies into play. We can comfortably dabble in our art supplies or revel in an opera, paddle about a pond or fan the spark of a summer romance. With our sensitivities so close to the surface, it’s a good time to puddle about in the collective consciousness and meditate or investigate auspices. And it’s so easy to escape from worldly woes into a summer book or the collective mind of a music concert or soccer match.
These Neptune transits can also leave us feeling permeable, more affected by allergens and the invasive habits of others. We may want to avoid abrasive situations. Be kind to nerve endings and be careful around addictive behaviors. We can overdo that longing for magic. But we can also be unusually permeable to beauty, to a sound that pierces our heart, a sight that breaks our heart open.
This Neptunian encroachment of our imagination can be more problematic once it’s out of our creative life. We can be impressionably gullible or get lost in our imaginary world. Misread other people signals. We can get lost our worst-case scenarios or favorite problem-solving dreams, or imagine a problem is smaller/bigger than it really is, or we can notice where our imagination goes and look for corroboration or correction.
For example, recent tensions in Iraq bring up all the old American political fantasies about the region that proved so deadly in our last round (in 2003 as Neptune quincunx USA’s natal Sun). In this incredibly complex situation, we can either make the same mistakes again, or work to know more, clear our old illusions and make decisions based on a deeper understanding of the region.
We have to watch the tendency to project our past illusions onto the present, both in politics and our personal life. The trick will be to remember that even with all these possibilities, where we are is right here, right now, with the ground underneath our feet.
Friday morning brings the New Moon in sensitive and self-protective Cancer. This symbol for Cancer is a crab, a creature so hard and with claws on the outside because it’s so soft and squishy on the inside. We have a chance to come back to ourselves, to home, home-team, home-turf, home within our own soul, to nurture ourselves the way we wish we had been nurtured. As we what we really need, we can better empathize with others. Then begin a new cycle from there.
We could all use a little nurturing as the weekend begins, the last few weeks have brought some rocky tension and tendency to guard and conflagration has Mars bounced its energy off Pluto and Uranus. That low-lying tension and impulsiveness continues under the surface this week. We can support the healing as we create safety for one another.
As the Sun trines Neptune and Venus squares Neptune as the week begins, enjoy the magic but watch for sharp edge of unreality. Dial down assumptions; check to make sure we’re all on the same page.
Midweek the Virgo Moon tells us to get back to work and get things done, just as Mercury stations to turn direct. Have patience, patience, and more patience. We’ll see what was brewing behind the scenes, remember what we’ve forgotten, lost, or misunderstood, and begin to get back on track over the July 4 weekend.
Friday, June 27: As the New Moon in Cancer at 2:08 AM MDT, trines sensitive, impressionable, watery Neptune it can bring us back to our tender selves, encourage us to escape from the workaday world and go swimming. Morning dreams and drifts: people resist demands defensively. The Moon opposes Pluto this afternoon and those defenses can become fierce; people become aware of what they could lose and grow territorial in response. Let’s not rock the boat any more than we have to, and not take things too personally. Tonight, familiar people can help us unload and unwind early in the evening, but we can get crabby and act out if we feel pushed out of our comfort zone later in the evening as the Moon trines Uranus and squares Mars.
Saturday, June 28: We’d probably rather stay cozy and stay put, but may be called to wander. Things take longer than we intend, so keep the schedule easy, open, and know people will be friendlier on their home territory. A sense of adventure and openness picks up tonight as the Moon conjuncts Jupiter, though people will want to be accepted even (especially) with their eccentricities. It’s a good night to gather with friends over a delicious picnic, our appetite can be unusually voracious and our hearts want safe familiarity.
Sunday, June 29: The mood can be sentimental, sensitive, intuitive, but possibly waterlogged as the Sun and Venus aspect Neptune. It will feel good to be on or near the water as long as we’re not flooded out. Stay well hydrated. Dream together and be intoxicated with possibility. Just avoid other intoxications as well as water damage under these soggy Neptunian aspects. If life feels like performance art under the Leo Moon, let it be beautiful, romantic, symbolic, art. Don’t buy into the melodrama but do enjoy the comedy. Some may act out a bit because we have an extra need to feel valued, appreciated. But the deeper calling is to be a grown up, and generously offer appreciation first.
Monday, June 30: The planets whisper “hurry up and wait”, the Leo Moon trines Uranus, excites us with a gentle sense of adventure, a tad of self-absorption, but can also bring graciousness which helps us make the best out of any situation. Which we’ll need as Mercury slows down and detours weave through our day. The Sun approaches an opposition to Pluto and stirs a thoughtful, melancholic and discontented undertone. Over the next few days we may feel like we cannot do enough or wonder if we are up to our challenges. If so, let’s take it slow, easy, deeply, and put one foot in front of the other.
Tuesday, July 1: After a slow start (while Mercury leave retrograde, and sextiles the Leo Moon) problems begin to reveal themselves and get a chance to unravel or unwind. People need extra attention this morning, then shift to a more pragmatic mood as the Moon enters Virgo. Don’t push the river; mistakes accrue if we hurry, but if we pace ourselves and work with the flow around us, we begin to make up for lost time and get back on track in a practical way. Conversation and planning are productive tonight as long as we don’t hold each other responsible for recent snafus, and instead see each other as allies in this together.
Wednesday, July 2: Fix it, fix mistaken orders, measurement problems, forgotten details, and abraded relationships. Please do not look for whose fault it is and project blame upon one another, no matter how tempting that may be. Important critiques need to be made, and yes, some people need to be told off. But people will tend to beat themselves up plenty; they don’t need our help and want us to know it’s not all their fault. The lighter our touch, the more specific our feedback, the more likely we are to be heard. If big issues begin to percolate, take on one thing at a time and remember the deepest priorities.
Thursday, July 3: Use this day to prepare for the holiday as well as the next phase of life; the Virgo Moon wants us to stay busy in a constructive way so we don’t stay busy worrying or critiquing. Do not be sidetracked by some small bother. Stay on track, keep priorities clear, and investigate the gift of the moment; some lessons will be difficult, but if we take it in an educational light, will still feel constructive. It’s a good day to chew over our experience to process and analyze. A few people will lash out over historic inadequacies, and they may have a point. We don’t have to be one of them, but if confronted by this attitude, we need to really hear it out before responding. Watch for communication glitches early this evening as the Moon squares Mercury; cut each other a little extra slack, and don’t retort automatically.
